About Us

Everybody Dance Now! (EDN!) is youth-run nonprofit organization that uses dance to create positive outlets for youth. We offer free, weekly, hip-hop programming to young people who would otherwise lack the funds, transportation, or parental support to access to such opportunities. Since our foundation in 2005, EDN! has reached over 2,000 students and continues to serve over 400 students annually. We currently offer 15 local dance classes per week at Title 1 elementary and junior high schools, youth centers, low-income housing sites, and after school programs. Our talented team of instructors meets on a quarterly basis to discuss classes, develop ourselves as teachers and mentors, and unite behind our mission. Our faculty consists of professional dance instructors, college dance majors, and qualified high school volunteers who not only teach dance, but also act as positive mentors to their students. In addition to offering weekly hip-hop classes we also coordinate outreach performances, cultural dance classes, and master classes with guest instructors. Additionally, we have developed our programs to also include a pre-professional dance troupe and studio scholarship opportunities for our most dedicated students. Through consistent programming and mentorship, Everybody Dance Now! provides our community's youth with a constructive outlet. EDN! encourages youth to use dance as a positive, creative, and healthy form of expression and alternative to juvenile violence, gang involvement, and experimentation with drugs and alcohol.

Everybody Dance Now! Santa Barbara is currently run by 10 passionate high school students who not only work to expand, better, and sustain EDN!’s local programs, but also serve as teachers to developing EDN! chapters across North America. Everybody Dance Now! Santa Barbara serves as the flagship and model chapter for a national network of affiliated programs—a national network working to engage youth in positive self-expression.
